Carey Prill is an attorney with GrowIP Law Group LLC. Carey’s practice focuses on patent and trademark prosecution and litigation. Carey has considerable experience with a wide range of technologies, including innovative nutritional products, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.
In addition to IP prosecution and litigation, Carey also has extensive experience in IP due diligence, freedom to operate analyses, opinion work, and competitive IP analysis. She provides clearance opinions for clients relating to new products and devices and conducts non-infringement and invalidity analyses as well as landscape analyses. Carey is known by her clients for being passionate about science and technology and for being exceptionally detail oriented.
Prior to joining GrowIP, Carey worked as a partner at a prominent IP boutique in Chicago. She also examined pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent applications for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. While attending law school, Carey completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Thomas B. Donovan of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She also served as a legal intern with the United States Department of Justice Office of the United States Trustee. In addition to earning her law degree, Carey trained with scholars from Pepperdine’s Straus Institute, the top dispute resolution program in the country, to earn her Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution. As part of that program, Carey gained valuable mediation experience while serving as a mediator in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Before entering the field of law, Carey worked for Mercedes-Benz Research and Development in its emissions testing compliance program. She also worked for Dow Corning as part of its Specialty Chemicals research team in developing and improving paper and leather coatings.
In her spare time, Carey enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and two Havanese rescue dogs, all of whom have given her the greatest adventure of her life. Carey is also a fitness enthusiast. She is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, boxing trainer, an avid long-distance runner, and a fan of endurance sports.
